We are officially in the heat of summer, aka wedding season. From the mountains of upstate New York to the shores of the San Juan Islands, our team is celebrating love big time this year (and every year). We’re in the love business, and always will be. We love to witness love. Share love. Be love. Oh, and how could we forget, we love to capture love too.
As a photographer, weddings can be stressful, but they are so so so good. As a documentary photographer, the phrase content creation makes my skin crawl. I do believe that there is a line between photographer and content creator - largely because I am too awkward and shy to put myself in front of a camera willingly - I’m really in awe of all the creators in this world. I do believe that both have their space, and we’ve learned that there is a huge space for that line to blur a little - or a lot.
In full disclosure, when I first started toying with our iphone romr rig last year, I hated it.
But, as I’ve gotten to know it, the ins and outs, - it’s become a really fun addition to my camera bag. As a photographer it's hard to not put our special editing touch on the photos. But getting people their photos instantly is important and they’re going to post and share them right away. And, I will say - minimal post-production? Sign me up.
Anddddd it also means with a romr rig you gotta know what you’re doing - with flash and composition knowledge being hugely important, it's truly in the moment quick thinking so we can turn around and share the image - instantly via QR code.
I started August out capturing some love - documenting my friend’s wedding
with a little Smilebooth flair. And it was a hit.
