As cultural engineers, we are masters at shaping and nurturing the spirit of an organization or community. We design and implement strategies that foster a positive, inclusive, and productive environment, ensuring every interaction aligns with core values and vision.
But where does this come from? Genesis P-Orridge, a pioneering figure in avant-garde art and music and one of the deeper change makers of our time, coined the term "cultural engineer" around 1989/90. P-Orridge used this term to describe their approach to creating and manipulating culture through various mediums, including music, performance art, and writing. They sought to engineer new cultural narratives and challenge societal norms, particularly through projects like the bands Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV. This concept emphasized the role of the artist not just as a creator but as an active participant in shaping and influencing cultural discourse.
The ACE hotel chain adopted this as their tagline for their model, which we had a small part in.
Here’s what we, as cultural engineers, do:
Since we pioneered the first GIF booth and open-air photobooth concepts, we have continually enjoyed engineering and implementing new and redesigned ideas. Partner with us.
